I am a former high-school distance coach and have worked with dozens of adult road racers at all levels of ability and experience. I currently have a number of openings for personal coaching for runners in the Sarasota area.

There are several options available to interested athletes:

  • Ongoing coaching. This includes the formulation of a training program tailored to individual runners' goals and needs, followed by ongoing coaching support by phone and e-mail. This is ideal for both new and experienced runners who have a specific goal in mind -- completing a first marathon, running a personal 10K best, improving the running segment of a triathlon, and so on. Included also: Saturday morning (7 a.m.) and Monday and Thursday evening (6 p.m.) group runs at Fleet Feet Sarasota (times and location tentative) followed on occasion by a training mini-seminar. These seminars will deal with rotating topics, e.g., nutrition, stretching and core conditioning, aerobic vs. anaerobic principles, etc.
    Fee: $150 a month.
  • Training schedules. After a discussion of your running history and aims, you will be provided a personalized training program.
    Fee: $75 for a one- to three-month schedule; $100 for a four- to five-month schedule; $125 for schedules of six or more months.
  • Training consultations. If you are already following a schedule (e.g., from a book or from the Internet), you will be given targeted suggestions in a one-on-one setting for how to accommodate your personal likes, dislikes, tendencies, lifestyle considerations, and so on into your plan.
    Fee: $50 for one hour (give or take).
Depending on demand, I will also be supervising interval workouts and tempo sessions at the Brookside Middle School track near the corner of Siesta Drive and Shade Avenue. I hope to put runners of similar abilities in contact with one another so that those seeking an extra push in their more challenging sessions can have an easier go of things.
